Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) isn’t just for adults. In fact, it’s the perfect activity for kids! This form of martial arts incorporates a lot of ground grappling and is based in automatic human responses. When it comes to self defense, BJJ empowers a smaller individual to fight against a larger opponent. But the advantages don’t stop there. BJJ helps kids gain confidence, learn discipline, focus their energy, foster respect for others, and be a part of a one-of-a-kind community full of future friends and mentors!
When practicing No-Gi Jiu Jitsu, you’ll shed your thick kimono and pants for stretchy athletic wear, such as shorts and a rash guard. Without the lapel and collar of a kimono to grab hold of, No-Gi Jiu Jitsu is much faster and requires quick thinking.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) has gained a lot of attention in recent years, and it’s pretty obvious why. Made for the real world, BJJ is a form of self defense that every person should master. BJJ focuses on ground level altercations – utilizing holds, throws, blows, and a variety of submission techniques. This makes jiu jitsu ideal when learning how to take on an opponent who may be larger than you, without necessarily having to hurt them.
Capoeira is an excellent form of cardio, that helps increase flexibility, coordination and confidence. Students will be exposed to the music, learn to play the instruments, learn to speak and sing the language (Brazilian Portuguese) and participate in “rodas” which incorporate all aspects of this beautiful and unique art form.
